Speedworks postpones season finale

Speedworks postpones season finaleSpeedworks Events has today confirmed the postponement of it’s season finale meeting, due to take place at the Hampton Downs Motorsport Park over the weekend of March 27-29.

“With the recent and rapid developments in the COVID-19 crisis, including the NZ travel restriction announcement yesterday and the recommended large event and mass gathering restrictions, it is with extreme regret that we can confirm that we have no choice but to postpone the event,” explained Speedworks’ Geoff Short.

“We consulted with our stakeholders on Monday after which the governing body requested an additional day to seek further input from the categories. Following that process there was a unified view that in the circumstances the safety of everyone was of paramount importance and that there was little or no reason not to postpone the meeting. We will monitor the evolving situation carefully and Speedworks will announce a replacement date in due course.”

The event was due to see the final rounds of the 2019-2020 season for several championship classes including the BNT V8s, the RYCO 24-7 V8 Utes and the Best Bars Toyota 86 Championship.
